Will a person be punished for their misdeeds in the grave or on the Day of Judgment if their good deeds outweigh them?

No definitive statement can be made about matters of the Barzakh (interim period between death and resurrection) without a religious proof. However, it appears that the believer will be spared the torment of the grave and the Hereafter if their good deeds outweigh their sins, or if they repent sincerely, or if they are afflicted with expiating calamities. If these matters do not purify them in this world, they may be punished in the grave or on the Day of Judgment, unless Allah, in His grace, bestows upon them pardon, forgiveness, and absolution.
