Is it permissible for a man to wear a necklace made of silver or leather?

The ruling on a man wearing a necklace around his neck made of gold or silver has been previously explained. As for a leather necklace, if it is for adornment, then it involves imitation of women and people of frivolity. If it is to ward off the evil eye, then it falls under the ruling of amulets (tama'im) which the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade.
