Is it permissible for a man to wear a silver necklace and pray with it, or is all silver, except for the ring, forbidden? And is there a specific weight?

It is not permissible for a man to wear a necklace of gold or silver. His prayer with it is valid but lacking in reward. The scholars are unanimous in prohibiting a man from adorning himself with gold. Some of them prohibited silver except for a ring, a belt, and a sword hilt. As for the silver ring permissible for a man, scholars differed on its weight. The Hanafis held that it should not exceed one mithqal, while the Shafi'is and Hanbalis did not specify a particular weight for it.
