If you know that one of the spouses does not pray, do not perform the marriage contract for them with the other; because abandoning prayer is disbelief (kufr), based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Between a man and polytheism and disbelief is the abandonment of prayer," and his saying: "The covenant between us and them is prayer; whoever abandons it has disbelieved."
