Is the Imam sinful for taking charge of a mosque 160 kilometers away from his place of residence, only attending on weekends, leaving the mosque for five days, even though he has permission from the Mosques Office?

What we understand is that the questioner is an Imam of a congregational mosque in a village, and he only leads prayers on weekends. The rest of the week, he spends in the city, far from the village, and this was done by agreement with the mosques' office.

Indeed, his absence most days of the week contradicts the performance of the Imam's duty and leads to the neglect of this trust. We do not know how one can be an Imam of a mosque while living so far away from it.

However, if the mosques' office is authorized to allow him to do so, and permitted him out of consideration for a benefit—such as delivering the Friday sermon and overseeing mosque affairs, even if weekly—then this removes any sin or embarrassment from him. This is in contrast to a situation where the office was not authorized to permit him, and allowed him against work regulations.
