How can one raise oneself and one's children to be content and accepting in light of the current difficult economic circumstances?

First: Islam has emphasized raising children to be content and satisfied. Many prophetic texts have been narrated about its virtue, and contentment holds great importance in the life of the individual and society, especially in an era dominated by materialistic values.

Second: To acquire contentment and satisfaction, one must: Believe that Allah is the Provider, look to those who have less, understand Allah's wisdom in the disparity of provisions, be content with what is at hand and not ask for more, and train oneself in frugality.

Third: The dangers of dissatisfaction among children include resorting to shouting, the absence of preferred items, and destroying what others possess. The remedy involves teaching them savings, explaining that parental requests come from their own savings, discussing their needs, and offering alternative options.

Fourth: To guard against consumer immersion: Do not consider shopping a leisure activity, avoid watching advertisements as much as possible, and raise awareness about advertising methods.

Fifth: The prophetic method for raising children to be content and satisfied includes: Parents being role models, giving prophetic examples, and indeed, the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the Companions were role models in asceticism, contentment, and satisfaction.

Sixth: The Prophet (peace be upon him) was the most content and satisfied person with little. Examples of this include: No fire being lit in his homes for two months, his passing away without having eaten his fill of bread and olive oil twice in one day, and his mattress being made of tanned hide filled with palm fibers. Contentment makes a servant among the wealthiest and most grateful to Allah.
