As a young man, do I owe a religious duty towards my parents who abandoned and disowned me, and what is their ruling in Islam, knowing that I despise them but do not hate them?

The negligence and dereliction of duty by parents in raising, educating, and providing for their children do not permit the son to abandon them or harbor hatred towards them. He must overlook their wrongdoings and maintain contact with them as much as possible. He should approach life with optimism and compensate for the shortcomings he experienced from his parents by excelling in raising his own children. He should choose their mother well, raise them upon virtue, goodness, and religion, and care for and provide for them.
