What is the ruling on participating in forwarding circulating messages via BlackBerry that contain unverified hadiths and information, and on responding to requests to disseminate them that use phrases such as, "Whoever bridles knowledge, Allah will bridle him," or "I implore you to send it"?

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever is asked about knowledge which he knows and conceals it, will be bridled with a bridle of fire." This warning applies specifically to knowledge that is obligatory to impart and teach, such as teaching prayer to a new convert to Islam, or answering a questioner about what is lawful and unlawful. As for voluntary knowledge that people do not necessarily need to know, the one who conceals it does not fall under this warning. Therefore, there is no obligation to send messages containing information that is not part of obligatory knowledge, even if it is correct, because there is no legitimate evidence that mandates it.
