Is it permissible to lead the prayer when making up missed prayers?

Congregational prayer is permissible for making up missed prayers; in fact, it is recommended. It is also permissible to pray a missed prayer behind a different prayer, or a missed prayer behind an ada' (on-time) prayer, or an ada' prayer behind a missed prayer, according to the Shafi'is and Hanbalis. The Malikis stipulate that the Imam's prayer and the follower's prayer must be the same in terms of the specific prayer, whether it's ada' or qada' (missed), and whether it's obligatory or supererogatory. Authentic hadiths have been reported supporting the permissibility of congregational prayer for making up missed prayers, among them the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions making up the Fajr prayer in congregation after they had missed it, and his making up four prayers that he missed on the Day of the Trench in congregation.
