Is it permissible to conduct sales using the method my friend employs when dealing with women (the dressed yet naked), which is a "filthy" method that some women accept and that leads to laughter which disgusts me, knowing that he believes this method is necessary to increase sales? And does my demand for seeking what is lawful in my earnings justify my disagreement with him?
It is not permissible to use lenient approaches and joking with women when selling goods to them, because Islam has set forth legal guidelines for interactions between genders that prevent indecency and block the means leading to it. Such approaches are considered steps of Satan that lead to indecency. Allah says: "And do not approach indecencies — what is apparent of them and what is concealed" [Al-An'am: 151], and "And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an indecency and is evil as a way" [Al-Isra: 32].
Furthermore, the statement that life proceeds in this manner or that sales cannot be made except in this way is incorrect. Provision is predetermined by Allah, and disobedience does not increase it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) warned against hastening to obtain provision through unlawful means, saying: "Indeed, the Holy Spirit has breathed into my heart and informed me that no soul will die until it completes its full provision, even if it is delayed from it. So, O people, fear Allah and be moderate in seeking (provision). And let not the delay of anyone's provision carry him to seek what Allah has forbidden him, for indeed, what is with Allah cannot be attained except through obedience to Him." What is required of a Muslim is to change the evil, not to fall into it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; if he cannot, then with his tongue; if he cannot, then with his heart—and that is the weakest of faith."
