The answer

Any good deed, the reward of which a living person dedicates to a deceased Muslim, will benefit the deceased, and the reward will reach them. It is better for a person to dedicate the reward of their deeds to themselves and to frequently supplicate for the deceased for mercy and forgiveness. It is permissible to perform 'Umrah on behalf of the deceased, but it is not valid for someone to perform 'Umrah on behalf of another unless they have already performed 'Umrah for themselves.
