Source: FtawySummarized from the full answer at Ftawy · imported Sep 2, 2026
If the buttons of a garment are not made of gold or silver, and their use does not involve extravagance, wastefulness, or showing off, then there is no harm in using them. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Eat, drink, dress, and give charity, without extravagance or showing off." As for gold and silk, they are forbidden for the males of the Ummah and permissible for its females.
