The answer

An only sister inherits half of her brother's estate (land, money, rights) as a fard (fixed share) if he has no descendants or ascendants, based on the verse: "If a man dies, having no child, and he has a sister, she will have half of what he leaves." (Quran 4:176).

The remaining half goes to the closest male agnate ('asabah). If there is no male agnate, the other half is returned to the sister, based on the verse: "But those related by blood are nearer to one another in the Book of Allah." (Quran 8:75).
