What is the obligatory clothing for a man?

The obligatory clothing for a man to provide for his wife, children, and relatives for whom he is responsible to support, is to the extent of sufficiency. This is determined by the financial status of the spouses, whether wealthy or poor, and according to the custom of their locality, for both summer and winter. This is based on the Almighty’s saying: "And upon the father is their provision and their clothing according to what is reasonable" (Quran 2:233), and the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "And for them [the wives] upon you is their provision and their clothing according to what is reasonable." The ruler determines the clothing based on their ease and difficulty, and the clothing is provided twice a year, once in winter and once in summer.
