What is the ruling on working in the field of construction and building if the supervisor does not allow a Muslim to perform Friday prayer?

If the construction work is free from temptations, then we advise you to join it and to seek permission from your employer to attend Friday prayer. If he agrees, then that is excellent. If he refuses, you can compensate for the time of Jumu'ah with overtime work. If he insists on refusing, then there is no blame upon you for remaining at work, and you are excused for not attending Friday prayer, while striving to attend it whenever possible. The jurists have stipulated that among the excuses for not attending Jumu'ah is the fear of harm to one's livelihood, which a person needs, or to their wealth.
