Is it permissible to raise pigs for the purpose of disposing of non-biodegradable or non-recyclable waste?

It is not permissible to keep or raise pigs. It is uglier and worse than a dog in this regard. A dog may be kept for hunting, livestock, and farming, but a pig may not be kept under any circumstances. This is indicated by Al-Nawawi's statement in his commentary on the Hadith: "By Him in whose hand is my soul, the Son of Mary will soon descend among you as a just judge, break the cross, and kill the pigs." And Ibn Hajar's statement: "It is inferred from this that it is forbidden to keep pigs, forbidden to eat them, and that they are impure, because that which is beneficial is not legislated to be destroyed."
