Is it permissible to wear a mask during congregational prayer to avoid bad breath that may distract from one's concentration (khushuʿ)?

The default ruling is that it is disliked to cover the mouth and nose during prayer (al-talaththum), as there is a consensus among jurists on this, and due to the Prophet's prohibition against a man covering his mouth during prayer. However, this dislike is removed if there is a reason for covering, such as cold or heat, or to achieve a state of humility by repelling an offensive odor.
