What is the ruling on reciting the Qur’an as a khatmah over water for success in exams and for ruqyah?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is permissible to recite the Quran as a means of supplicating to Allah Almighty and seeking the fulfillment of needs, for it is a form of permissible intercession through righteous deeds. This is supported by the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: “Recite the Quran and ask Allah through it.” It is also permissible to seek healing with it by reciting it over a sick person, or over water then drinking it and washing with it, or over oil, ointment, and food, in accordance with His Almighty’s saying: “And We send down from the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe.”
