What is the authenticity of the hadith: "If you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much. Hypocrisy will appear, trustworthiness will be lifted, mercy will be withdrawn, the trustworthy will be accused, and the untrustworthy will be entrusted. The black stallion has knelt before you"? And is it confirmed that hypocrisy will appear at the end of time? And is it true that hypocrisy existed only in the era of the Prophet and his Companions?

The hadith has a weak chain of transmission due to the unknown status of Khalid ibn Abdullah and Salāmān ibn ʿĀmir. However, its meaning is not objectionable, as authentic texts have been reported confirming the widespread nature of tribulations, the lifting of trust (amānah), and the presence of hypocrisy in the end times. These texts also indicate that hypocrisy did not cease after the prophetic era, and that Hudhayfah’s statement, "Hypocrisy was only during the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him," does not negate the existence of hypocrisy, but rather refers to a difference in its ruling.
