Is it permissible for someone who is not proficient in Arabic and does not understand the verses of the Quran to follow the Imam during Tarawih prayers in Ramadan with a translated Mushaf for the sake of achieving Khushu (devotional humility)?

For a worshipper to follow the Imam's recitation from a Mushaf (copy of the Quran) is contrary to the Sunnah and is disliked ( makrooh). As for following the Imam from a book containing a translation of the meanings of the Quran, if the worshipper vocalizes what is in it, the prayer becomes invalid because it is not the Quran. However, if he limits himself to following by looking and pondering, the prayer is valid, though disliked. This dislike is removed if there is a need, such as to achieve khushu' (devotional humility) and to understand the meanings of the Quran. It is recommended to learn the Arabic language and the meanings of the Quran to ponder over it and attain khushu' in prayer without needing to carry a book.
