Can a woman perform the ‘aqīqah for herself and her children, given that she is 39 years old, and her father did not perform the ‘aqīqah for her, nor did her husband perform it for their children, knowing that the children have reached puberty? And does the ‘aqīqah for a newborn become void if they reach adulthood?

The 'Aqiqah (sacrificial offering upon the birth of a child) is a confirmed Sunnah according to the preponderant opinion, and the one addressed by it is the father. It does not cease to be due upon the child reaching puberty. If the father does not perform the 'Aqiqah, it is recommended for the child to perform the 'Aqiqah for himself. The Udhiyah (sacrificial offering on Eid al-Adha) is a confirmed Sunnah for both men and women, and it suffices for their household. It is permissible for a woman to offer the sacrifice even if her husband does not, and if she offers it, that suffices for her 'Aqiqah.
