Is amniotic fluid impure (najis) or pure (tahir)?

Amniotic fluid (the water surrounding the fetus) is pure (tahir) and not impure (najis), because it exits from the womb and is no more than the moisture of the vagina. The preponderant opinion is the purity of what exits from the womb. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen issued a fatwa stating that this fluid nullifies ablution (wudu) but is pure and does not render clothes or the body impure.
