Is dog hair pure?

Scholars have differed regarding the purity of dog hair. The preponderant opinion is that it is pure because the default state of things is purity, and there is no evidence for its impurity. It is not considered like its saliva because it grows on its exterior. This is the view held by the Hanafis and chosen by Ibn Taymiyyah.
