How can the issue of a wife who verbally and physically assaulted her husband and his parents, and was then taken by her family without his permission, be resolved, knowing that her family is religiously negligent, and what are the competent and legitimate authorities that can be resorted to?

A wife's departure from her husband's home without his permission is impermissible and is considered an act of defiance (nushooz), thereby forfeiting her right to maintenance (nafaqah), unless she has a valid excuse.

The husband should act wisely to bring his wife back by admonishing her and seeking help from experienced individuals. He should exercise patience and strive to resolve disputes.

No human being is perfect, and the husband should accept his wife's good qualities, overlook her faults, and endeavor to rectify them wisely. As stated in the Hadith: "A believing man should not hate a believing woman; if he dislikes one of her characteristics, he will be pleased with another."

If the wife's situation does not improve after all these efforts, the husband may resort to the Sharia courts.
