The answer

Allah has obligated Muslims to fast the month of Ramadan and has promised them great reward. He has reserved the reward for fasting for Himself, glory be to Him. Among the virtues of fasting is that Allah has prepared a gate in Paradise for those who fast, called "Ar-Rayyan," through which no one but them will enter. Once they have entered, it will be closed. Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and hope for reward will have their past sins forgiven. Fasting is a shield, and for the fasting person there are two joys: one when he breaks his fast, and one when he meets his Lord because of his fasting. Paradise has many gates, and it is mentioned in the Sunnah that there are eight gates. By Allah's grace, He opens all the gates of Paradise in the month of Ramadan.
