How do you respond to a Christian who says that Muslims' reliance on the sun for their fasting and prayers contradicts the existence of regions where the sun does not rise for six months, and claims that the one who legislated this (the Prophet) is not God?

The existence of places where the sun does not set for long periods does not mean that the legislation of prayer and fasting is not from Allah. Scholars have clarified how to determine the times for prayer and fasting in these regions by drawing upon prophetic traditions.

In the fatwas of the Permanent Committee, the people of these lands pray and fast by estimating their times, relying on the nearest countries where the times of prayer and fasting are clearly distinguishable. This is based on the حديث الإسراء والمعراج (Hadith of the Isra and Mi'raj), traditions concerning the five obligatory prayers, and the Hadith of the Dajjal, in which the Prophet (peace be upon him) explained how to estimate prayer times during long days.

Thus, the ambiguity surrounding this matter is dispelled.
