Is it permissible for a woman to wear the niqab and gloves without her husband's knowledge if he objects to it, and is she obliged to wear it in front of him if he beats her because of it? Is it permissible for her to uncover her face when traveling if her husband refuses to allow her to wear the niqab and she needs it for travel? Is she sinful if he forces her to uncover the niqab? Is she sinful for wearing gloves or covering her hands during prayer without her husband's permission?

The issue of covering the face is a matter of scholarly disagreement, and the preponderant opinion is that it is obligatory. A husband does not have the right to order his wife to uncover her face if she believes it is obligatory to cover it, because there is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator. If the husband beats his wife because of the niqab, then it is permissible for her to uncover her face in front of him to avert harm, and then wear it when away from him. As for prayer, a woman is required to cover her entire body except for the face and hands. The Sunnah is to uncover the face in prayer when no non-mahram man is present. The matter of the hands is flexible; if she covers them, there is no sin upon her.
