Is it permissible for my father to compel me to annul the marriage contract and threaten me with death, knowing that I wish to complete the marriage with a groom who has fulfilled all the conditions of the contract, and has refused additional, impossible conditions after the عقد (aqd - marriage contract)?

The answer

The conditions imposed on the husband after the marriage contract are not binding, and he is not obligated to fulfill the demands of the wife's father regarding conditions he stipulated after the contract. The father has no right to demand his daughter separate from her husband, nor is she obliged to obey him in this matter. The wife has the right to complete her marriage, and her father's anger will not harm her if it is without just cause. It is advisable to involve some righteous individuals to speak with the father so that he may be appeased. The wife, however, must honor her father and associate with him in a good manner.
