Does the husband's stance of refusing to cover the expenses of his wife's Hajj, coupled with the absence of a mahram for her, justify her not performing the obligatory Hajj?

If a woman does not find a husband or a mahram to accompany her for the obligatory Hajj, but finds a trustworthy group, it is obligatory for her to perform Hajj according to the Shafi'is and Malikis. She may go without his permission according to the Hanafis and Zahiris. The Hanbalis believe that Hajj is not obligatory for her in this case. The majority of scholars do not obligate the husband to accompany his wife for the obligatory Hajj, even if she offers him the expenses, while the Zahiris believe that he must do so, and that he disobeys Allah if he does not. He is not permitted to prevent her from performing the obligatory Hajj, but he may prevent her from performing voluntary Hajj.
