What was the reason for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) wanting to divorce Umm Al-Mu'minin Hafsa bint 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and what was the grave matter that compelled the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) to do so?

There are narrations indicating that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, divorced Hafsa and then took her back by divine command. The reason for taking her back was that "she is a frequent abstainer (of fasting) and a regular worshipper (in prayer), and she is his wife in Paradise." As for the reason for the divorce, there is no explicit authentic hadith that clarifies it. However, some scholars have linked it to the incident in which Hafsa divulged a secret of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, based on an interpretation of some verses from Surah At-Tahrim. Nevertheless, the true reason remains not explicitly stated, and there might have been other reasons specific to the Prophet's household.
