Is the Friday sermon of a fixed duration?

There is no specific legal (Shariah) limit set for the duration of the Friday sermon (Khutbah), but the Sunnah is for it to be short. The guidance of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was moderation in his sermon; it was neither long and tedious nor short and deficient. Indeed, Muslim narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "I used to pray with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and his prayer was moderate, and his sermon was moderate."
