What should I do if I have many expiations (kaffarat) due but cannot specify them, or if I cannot find poor people or doubt their poverty?

A Muslim must guard his oaths and not swear excessively. If he cannot determine the number of expiations, he should make an effort to do so and take the lesser number, or the greater number as a precaution. The poor can be identified by searching or asking knowledgeable people, or by delegating to trustworthy individuals or charitable organizations.
