The answer

Good and evil are not equal in their recompense and outcome. Good is that which pleases Allah, and evil is that which He dislikes and punishes. Repel evil with good, such as patience in anger and forgiveness in the face of harm, and then the enemy will turn into a close friend. Umar ibn al-Khattab said, "You cannot punish someone who disobeys Allah in his treatment of you with anything better than obeying Allah in your treatment of him." Allah has made it clear that kindness turns an enemy into a friend. Ibn Abbas said: Allah commanded the believers to be patient when angry, forbearing when ignorant, and forgiving when wronged. Thus, Allah will protect them from Satan and make their enemy submissive to them.
