What should I do about my fear that my repentance will not be accepted and that I will be disgraced, knowing that my repentance is for the sake of Allah and that some people know about my deed?
Repentance is accepted when it is sincere, coupled with abandoning the sin, regretting it, and resolving not to return to it. Allah the Almighty has clarified that He accepts repentance from His servants and pardons evil deeds. The repentant person should increase in good deeds, for good deeds expiate evil ones. He should also conceal himself and ask Allah to protect him from being exposed, and remind anyone who wishes to discuss the matter of the importance of a believer covering his brother. Moreover, one should frequently supplicate with "O Allah, conceal my flaws and calm my fears," and seek forgiveness, for whoever commits an evil deed or wrongs himself and then seeks Allah's forgiveness will find Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
