Which is more correct: that Jesus (peace be upon him) will remain on Earth after his descent for seven years or for forty years?

Allah Almighty raised Jesus, son of Mary (peace be upon him), to Himself, and he was not crucified. He will descend at the end of time to rule with justice and kill the Dajjal (Antichrist). There has been a difference of opinion regarding the duration of his stay on Earth after his descent. Some hadiths state that he will remain for "forty years," while other hadiths mention "seven years."

Scholars have reconciled these two narrations in several ways, including: 1. That the duration of his stay on Earth from his birth until his death is forty years. He lived 33 years before being raised, and he will live 7 years after his descent. Thus, the narration of forty years refers to his complete life, and the narration of seven years refers to the duration of his stay after his descent. However, this reconciliation has been criticized for lacking textual evidence in the hadiths. 2. That the duration of his stay on Earth after his descent is forty years, while the seven years mentioned in some hadiths refer to the period people will live on Earth after the death of Jesus (peace be upon him). This is the view preferred by many scholars. 3. That the seven years refer to the duration of Jesus' (peace be upon him) stay with the Mahdi, and then he will remain for thirty-three years after him, completing the forty years.

The most preponderant opinion is that Jesus (peace be upon him) will remain for forty years after his descent, and that the seven years mentioned in some narrations refer to the period people will live after the death of Jesus (peace be upon him).
