The question

What is the ruling on obsessive doubt (waswasah) regarding intention and purity, and what are the implications of this in terms of ghusl or changing clothes? Does the discharge of secretions without a cause necessitate anything?

The answer

We ask Allah to grant you healing and well-being from the whisperings (waswasah) which you must disregard and pay no attention to. Do not utter the intention (niyyah) aloud for ablution (wudu') or prayer (salat); the intention of the heart suffices you. The discharges from a woman's vagina are pure (tahira) and only nullify ablution; they do not necessitate washing clothes or performing a full ritual bath (ghusl). If they are continuous, perform ablution for each prayer after its time has entered, and pray the obligatory (fard) and voluntary (nawafil) prayers with that same ablution.
