Is drawing animate beings forbidden, and if so, why? Can martyrs or the dead be drawn? And if so, why?

Three-dimensional and hand-drawn depictions of animate beings, whether living or dead, are impermissible. This is evidenced by what is mentioned in the story of Noah (peace be upon him) and the interpretation of the Almighty's saying: "And they said, 'Never abandon your gods, and never abandon Wadd, nor Suwa', nor Yaghuth, and Ya'uq, and Nasr'" (Noah: 23). These were names of righteous men whose people depicted them as a memorial after their death, incited by Satan. These images were not worshipped in their generation; rather, they were worshipped instead of Allah by subsequent generations due to Satan's delusion, who inspired them that their ancestors used to worship them.
