What should I do about someone I suspect of envying me, and how do I deal with this suspicion? And how can I succeed in this world and increase my sustenance? And will I be affected by the presence of a disobedient person who takes no heed, living with me in the same house?
Envy is real, and Allah has commanded us to seek refuge from it. However, one should not excessively fear it or attribute all evils to it. As for the causes of success and abundant provision, they lie in obedience to Allah and Taqwa (God-consciousness), as He Almighty says: "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect." (Quran 65:2-3). Interacting with disobedient individuals necessitates offering advice, enjoining good, and forbidding evil. The sin of a disobedient person does not harm the advisor if he fulfills his duty, because Allah is a just judge, and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another.
