How do we advise a disobedient person who abandons prayer and is lenient in some matters, without making him think of himself as an infidel or evil, while reasonably combining encouragement and deterrence?

The disobedient person should be advised and admonished using evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah, with both encouragement (targhib) and deterrence (tarhib), along with gentleness and an explanation that the motivation is love and concern for them. Their good qualities can be mentioned to encourage them to obey, and the virtue and ease of worship, the danger of disobedience, and Satan’s enmity towards humanity can be explained. When mentioning verses of warning, it should be clarified to them that the advisor fears for them. If these means are employed, the advisor has fulfilled their duty.
