The answer

Allah has made the evil eye and envy have an effect in causing harm. Protection from them is achieved by seeking refuge in Allah through supplication for protection (isti'adha) and lawful ruqyah (incantation), without excessive fear, while taking precautionary measures. The resolution of affliction depends on sincere reliance on Allah, frequent supplication (du'a), remembrance of Allah (dhikr), and recitation of the Qur'an, especially the Mu'awwidhatayn (Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas), and using lawful ruqyah. If no effect is observed in the protection, the reason is often the person's own shortcomings, and it may be due to impediments to the supplication being answered, such as lack of certainty in the response or heedlessness of the heart. Therefore, the questioner must repent and remain steadfast in obedience to Allah and adhere to the guidance of His Messenger.
