What is the ruling on the gift and food presented to an employee who was sent to perform a task in the home of a ruler?
What the employee drinks during hospitality is permissible. As for other gifts, if they are due to his job, he is not allowed to take them without the permission of his employer, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "What is the matter with a worker whom I send, and he says: 'This is for you and this was gifted to me'? Why did he not sit in the house of his father or the house of his mother and see whether anything would be gifted to him or not? By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, no one among you will take anything from it but he will come with it on the Day of Resurrection, carrying it on his neck." If the gift is not due to the job, but is a custom of the giver to his guests, then there is no harm in it.
