It is permissible to give zakat to the wife's mother and her siblings if they are poor and unable to meet their needs and the expenses of their mother's medical treatment, according to the Almighty's saying: "Indeed, zakat expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy." Giving zakat to them is more befitting. The children are not obliged to borrow money for treatment if they are unable.
