Is the truthfulness of a dream dependent on a person's righteousness or corruption, or does it occur for everyone: the righteous and the wicked, the pious and the dissolute, the Muslim and the disbeliever?

The uprightness, righteousness, and truthfulness of a servant's speech influence the veracity of their dream, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When the time draws near, the dream of a Muslim will scarcely be false, and the most truthful of you in dreams are the most truthful of you in speech." A good dream seen by a righteous man is a part of prophecy, and the dreams of the righteous are generally truthful, due to Satan's limited influence over them.

People are of three categories concerning dreams: 1. Prophets: All their dreams are truthful, though they may require interpretation. 2. The Righteous: Their dreams are predominantly truthful and may not require interpretation. 3. Others (the veiled ones, the wicked, the disbelievers): Their dreams contain both truth and jumbled thoughts. Truthfulness diminishes as a person moves further from righteousness, and it is exceedingly rare among disbelievers. However, it is not impossible for a disbeliever to have a dream that brings them some good in their worldly life.
