What is the ruling on saying: "The voice of such-and-such reciter is better than such-and-such reciter; in fact, there is a big difference in voice between them, for I feel at ease with such-and-such reciter and do not feel at ease with the other reciter"?

The listener of the Quran should focus on contemplation, understanding, and deriving benefit. There is no harm in preferring the recitation of a particular reciter or listening to one whose voice brings comfort; rather, it is commendable. However, ascribing superiority between the voices of reciters by saying that one's voice is better than another's should not be done except out of necessity, and it is feared that it might be backbiting (gheeba), just as some of the predecessors disliked making comparisons between scholars.
