What is the ruling regarding someone who says to his wife: "I cannot bear to hear the Qur'an recited with the voices of Saudis and Iraqis, and this is not Qur'an"?

It is not appropriate to flatly state that listening to the Quran is repulsive, even if the intention is to refer to the voices of the reciters. The matter becomes even worse by saying, "This is not the Quran." The one who says this should not be declared an infidel (kafir), because his intention is clear: he dislikes hearing a specific recitation, not the Quran itself.

Our advice to the one who says this is to focus on contemplating the Quran and understanding its verses, instead of focusing on the reciter's voice. If he prefers the recitation of some reciters over others, there is no harm in that, provided he does not generally disparage the reciters of a particular country.
