What should a woman entitled to a residential plot of land do, if she swore a false oath that she did not own land, despite having purchased land in an informal settlement, and then felt remorse and did not complete the procedures?

Lying is forbidden (haram), and even more forbidden is the yamin ghamus, which is swearing falsely. The Prophet, peace be upon him, considered it one of the major sins. Nevertheless, lying is permissible to obtain a right that cannot be acquired except through it, if tawriya (ambiguity) and ma'arid (indirect speech) are not possible. This is based on the Almighty's saying: "And He has detailed for you what He has forbidden you, except what you are compelled to [eat or use]."
