The answer

The man has committed a grave sin and a serious crime by engaging in adultery, and his sin is compounded by the fact that it occurred within the sacred precinct (Haram). He must repent sincerely. If the act occurred while he was in a state of ihram for Hajj:

- Before the first 'tahallul' (partial release from ihram): His Hajj is invalidated, and he must make it up (qada') and sacrifice a large animal (badanah) to be distributed among the poor of the Haram.

- After the first 'tahallul' and before the second: He must offer a fidyah (expiation), where he has the choice of fasting for three days, feeding six needy persons, or sacrificing a sheep.

There is no sin upon the relatives, as Allah Almighty says: "And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another."
