Is listening to the Quran sufficient to avoid abandoning it, or is reading it obligatory?

Reciting the Quran is not obligatory; it is, however, an act of worship with immense reward, and reciting it is superior to listening to it. Listening to the Quran avoids one aspect of abandoning the Quran, but abandoning the Quran has multiple forms mentioned by Ibn Al-Qayyim, including: abandoning listening to it, abandoning acting upon it, abandoning seeking its judgment, abandoning contemplating it, and abandoning seeking healing through it. It is recommended to combine reciting the Quran with listening to it, due to the good contained in both.
