What is the difference between augury, divination, pessimism, and optimism? Can propitious or unpropitious circumstances be considered messages from Allah without falling into augury? Do the characteristics of zodiac signs apply to the noble prophetic saying: "That word of truth is snatched by the jinn, who then instill it into the ear of his protégé, and they mix with it a hundred lies"? Is a person sinful for asking about obsessive thoughts?

There is no harm in viewing situations as messages from Allah for reflection and admonition, and optimism is praiseworthy in Islamic law. As for pessimism, divination by arrows, and ornithomancy, these are forbidden. A person is not held accountable for the whispers of horoscopes and the like, as long as they do not settle in their heart. Signs of their settlement include behavioral impact. The treatment for fleeting thoughts is to repel them, not to blame oneself. Astrologers may have a connection to eavesdropping, but astrology is based on an attempt to link earthly events with celestial conditions, and falsehood is dominant in it. We advise turning away from whispers and distracting oneself from them.
