What is the ruling on a woman reciting the Quran in front of men, whether for learning purposes or otherwise?

The default is for women to be taught by women. However, if a female teacher is not available, there is no objection to a man teaching her, provided that temptation is avoided. This should be done with specific controls: no private seclusion (khalwa), adherence to the legal hijab, lowering the gaze, and not speaking in a soft or alluring manner. It is permissible for her to recite the Quran in front of him under these conditions, because the woman's voice is not considered 'awrah (nakedness) according to the more correct opinion. As for her recitation in front of men for purposes other than learning, it is preferable for it to be in a low voice. However, she may recite aloud if the recitation does not involve stretching or softness in the voice; otherwise, it is not permissible.
